Menard County Housing Authority maintains a waiting list for both Housing Choice Voucher (HVC/S8) and Project Based Assistance (PBV). When the waiting lists are open, applicants must first submit a pre-application online to review initial eligibility and be placed upon the waiting list.
In order to submit a pre-application online, you will first need to create a user account. Click HERE to enter the applicant/resident portal.
As funding permits individuals who have submitted a pre-application will be contacted to complete a full application when it is believed that they are within 60-90 days of a voucher being available. Applicants must maintain eligibility at time of full application. The waiting list gives a residency preference for individuals that reside or work within MCHA’s voucher jurisdiction and offers a Veteran's preference for those who qualify. Once a full application is received in our office we can determine eligibility. If the applicant is found to be eligible, a voucher will be issued to the family. A family that is issued a housing voucher is responsible for finding a suitable housing unit of the family's choice where the owner agrees to rent under the program. This unit may include the family's present residence. Rental units must meet minimum standards of health and safety, as determined by the PHA. The unit must be in the jurisdiction. If at any time, the applicant does not respond to updates of information, or is found to be ineligible, the application will be denied. It is the applicant’s responsibility to keep all contact information up to date.
