Central Illinois Services (CIS) is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that coordinates various charitable activities in Menard County including, but not limited to, The Give & Take Thrift Shop, Angel Tree, Back to School Supply Drive, Summer Food Program, and Electronics Recycling. CIS also assists with the Menard County Food Pantry, Friend in Need, SMART Public Transportation, and much more! The Give & Take is a local thrift shop owned and operated by Central Illinois Services that provides clothing, toys, household items and much more to residents in need. Everything is free of charge. Any monetary donations help fund special projects such as Angel Tree, Back to School Supply Drive, etc. Anyone can shop at the Give & Take on Saturday’s from 9am to Noon. Give & Take is located at 100 E Sheridan Rd; Petersburg, IL. Extra donated clothing is recycled through US’Again. In 2016, 108,793 pounds of clothing, shoes and textiles were recycled and in 2015, 39,000 pounds were recycled! Give & Take Winter Hours
Angel Tree is a community project that provides new clothes to Menard County children aged 0-15 years and a small gift to children ages 16-18 for the holidays. Angel Tree partners with the Kiwanis Club to distribute toys to these children. Central Illinois Services coordinates this very special project. Sign-up begins in October. Central Illinois Services coordinates the annual Back to School Supply Drive for Menard County students to provide basic supplies and book bags for the new school year.
